Elmar was founded in 1986 by Elizabeth Margaret.
Elmar was founded in 1986 by Elizabeth Margaret, a nurse at Airedale Hospital with a passion for care and community. The name Elmar is a tribute to her—taken from her initials, Elizabeth Margaret.
Driven by her values of compassion, dignity, and dedication, Elizabeth built Elmar to provide high-quality, person-centred care. After her passing, her son Nigel carried on her vision, leading the organisation with the same heartfelt commitment.
In 2018, Elmar entered a new chapter when Tooba took over. Since then, we’ve grown steadily—opening new offices in Horsforth, Bradford, and Manchester, and launching a day centre at our Keighley location.
In March 2025, we proudly expanded our services further by securing a new care contract in Lancashire.
Today, Elmar continues to provide exceptional care across the North of England, staying true to the legacy of our founder and the values that have guided us from the very beginning.
